I’m sitting here at Newark Airport on Saturday morning waiting to head back to Boston after the Free Training Friday event yesterday trying to figure out a way to write about what I just experienced and having a really hard time putting it all into words.
\nIt was one of the more memorable events I think I've been a part of and it had everything to do with the people who were there and was absolute proof that when you bring good people together, good things happen.
\nIt was also something that AI will NEVER be able to replicate or compete with. This was a genuine human experience from beginning to end.
\nThe level of gratitude I have for everyone involved in this, including everyone who signed up for and attended the live stream, and our hosts and sponsors is immeasurable.
\nI’ll be sharing a documentary that we’ll be putting together along with the recordings of the different components of the day in the coming weeks but for now I wanted to share some of my favorite highlights of the day.
\nWe started at Linkedin’s office at the Empire State Building. Morgan and I did a few interviews together for some content for Linkedin and then we all got together for Free Training Friday.
\nEach practitioner/influencer had 5 minutes to show their sales “play” using Linked. The content was absolute fire and the vibe of the whole crew was a blast.
\nOver 500 people showed up live and the chat/comments were hysterical.
\nFrom there, we took a quick break and transitioned to a different section of Linkedin’s office where we were set up for the Roundtable discussion and answered questions from the audience.
\nAll the questions submitted were great but the one about leadership's role in the evolving world of AI is the one that got the most interesting conversation going and won the $500.
\nAfter that, we took a bunch of pictures at Linkedin and did a meet-and-greet with some of the reps before we headed over to the Happy Hour.
\nHappy Hour was down the street in our own private room with ping pong tables, great tunes, a killer vibe, an open bar and plenty of food.
\nI interviewed everyone asking them to tell their favorite story and explain their biggest failure/learning lesson along with some other fun questions based on what I knew about each of them.
\nWe’ll be releasing these interviews on next week’s Make it Happen Monday podcast so keep your ears open for it.
\nWe all went back to our hotels to freshen up after Happy Hour and head over to the theater for the Broadway Production of Glengarry, Glenn Ross which was absolutely incredible.
\nBill Burr and the rest of the cast absolutely crushed it and earned a well deserved standing ovation at the end.
\nWe ended the night by going back to the suite I had rented at the W Times Square to debrief and talk about the play, the experience and MUCH more.
\nWith such a diverse group of people who all shared the same values we were able to have extremely deep and meaningful conversations about all sorts of topics related to the play, including the role of race, gender and much more.
\nThis conversation was worth the price of admission by itself.
\nThe conversation continued well into the night and ended around 2:00am which was pretty impressive since many of us old dogs tend to turn in a little earlier these days.
\nIt’s another example of the power of positive energy.
\nEveryone didn’t know each other at the beginning of the day but I think I can safely say that by the end of the day, the depth of the connections were at a level that most people don’t get to, especially in ‘business’ relationships.
\nWith the world hurdling toward AI and automation, the human experience is going to matter more than ever before.
\nEvents like this with people like this are where the real value is.
